This fully funded scholarship is designed for international students from Egypt, offering a unique opportunity to pursue undergraduate or master’s degrees at prestigious universities in the United States. The scholarship covers full tuition, a living allowance, travel, and health insurance, and includes the possibility of an internship with the sponsoring company.

Launched by Orascom Construction in 2000, the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship program is a testament to the company’s commitment to investing in educational initiatives that foster academic excellence and community development. This program is a prime example of private sector participation in educational support in Egypt, aiming to equip young Egyptians with the skills and knowledge to advance their careers and contribute positively to their communities.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is exclusively available to students from Egypt who are planning to study at The University of Chicago, Stanford University, Harvard University, or The University of Pennsylvania. Preference is given to candidates who have not spent a significant amount of time abroad, ensuring a fresh perspective and a deep connection to their home communities.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Undergraduates:

Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt
Planning to start studies in the USA in 2025
Committed to returning to Egypt for two years post-graduation
No more than 3 years of living, studying, or working abroad
iBT TOEFL: 100 or above
GPA 3.5 / 90% in Thanaweyya Amma certification (Secondary year) or equivalent
Minimum SAT I Score (Old SAT: Overall: 2100, New SAT: Overall: 1450)
Extracurricular Activities

For Masters:

Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt
Pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering at a top US university
No more than 3 years of living, studying, or working abroad
TOEFL: iBT = 100 or above
GPA: 3.5 / Very Good or above
Minimum of three years working experience
MBA – GMAT: 650 or above (taken within 5 years)

Application Process:

For Undergraduate Scholarship:

Create an account on the Amideast website.
Fill in personal and educational details.
Answer two questions on the Statement of Purpose section.
Attach necessary documents: application form, transcripts, resume, graduation certificate, test scores, and two recommendation letters.
